Prep first

Make these preparations before you start the machine.

Purée

Fresh Banana Puree

You need 582 ml for this batch

Makes 600 ml — 18 ml left over

You'll need

  • ripe bananas5

Steps

  1. 1Peel the bananas and break them into chunks.
  2. 2Blend the banana chunks until completely smooth, scraping down the blender as needed.
  3. 3Use immediately in the main recipe, or cover tightly and refrigerate briefly to limit browning.

Purée

Fresh Strawberry Puree

You need 388 ml for this batch

Makes 400 ml — 12 ml left over

You'll need

  • fresh strawberries430 g

Steps

  1. 1Rinse the strawberries, remove the hulls, and discard any bruised pieces.
  2. 2Blend the strawberries until smooth.
  3. 3Use the puree immediately in the main recipe.

Method

  1. 1

    Blend the base

Combine the fresh banana puree, fresh strawberry puree, porridge oats, milk, honey, vanilla extract, and simple syrup in a blender. Blend until the oats are fully broken down and the mixture looks smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Chill before freezing

Refrigerate the blended base until cold, then stir well to recombine any settled oats or fruit puree.

  3. 3

    Freeze to texture

Pour the cold smoothie base into the machine and run until it is thick, icy, and pourable.

  4. 4

    Serve right away

Dispense into glasses and enjoy while the texture is creamy and softly chilled.

Tips

  • Chill the milk and fruit purees before mixing so the base thickens faster and tastes extra refreshing.
  • Blend thoroughly to break down the oats; a smoother base gives the finished drink a creamier texture.
  • Stir the base once more before pouring if it has been sitting, since oats can settle at the bottom.
  • Serve soon after dispensing for the softest, creamiest texture.
