Lemonade is the ideal slush base: lots of acid, no alcohol, and sugar you control. These recipes set the sugar where a home slush machine wants it, so the result is fluffy frozen lemonade instead of a lemon ice block.

Fresh lemon juice reads about 8° Brix, most of it acid rather than sugar, so the syrup does the freezing work. One tested starting point for a 1.85 L batch: 300 ml lemon juice, 450 ml 1:1 simple syrup, and 1,100 ml water, which lands at 15.4° Brix. Fruit versions swap some of the water for purée and trim the syrup a little.
Store-bought lemonade varies from about 10° to 14° Brix. Read the label, then top up with syrup or dilute with water until you are inside 12–16°.
| Drink | Lemon juice | 1:1 syrup | Water | Brix |

Strawberry purée adds water and only a little sugar, so keep the syrup close to the classic ratio and strain the seeds before pouring. The catalog's strawberry lemonade slush is the machine-ready version, and the strawberry collection has the rest of the family.
FAQ
Yes. Lemonade freezes well once its sugar is in the 12–16° Brix zone. Many bottled lemonades are already close; check the label or use the sugar-to-Brix converter and adjust.
Mix the lemonade to the zone, chill it, and pour to the fill line on the slush program. SharkNinja's 4% sugar minimum is easily met by any lemonade in this collection.
Not enough sugar. Lemon juice tastes sweet-sour but carries little sugar, so a light lemonade freezes into ice. Add syrup until the mix reads at least 12° Brix.
Slushable is a free app and recipe library for home slush machines. Every recipe is rebalanced to the right sugar (Brix) and alcohol (ABV) so it actually freezes into a smooth slush — no watery puddles or rock-solid blocks.
These recipes are dialled in for countertop slush machines like the Ninja Slushi. You can still blend them as a frozen drink, but the sugar and alcohol are tuned specifically so they freeze cleanly in a machine.
Yes. Every recipe is free to browse here, and the Slushable app is a free download. Open any recipe in the app to scale the batch to your machine and run a guided freeze.
It's almost always the Brix or ABV. Too much sugar or alcohol stops a mix from freezing; too little turns it to ice. Slushable works those numbers out for you, so each recipe lands in the slushable zone.
Absolutely. The library has plenty of zero-proof, family-friendly recipes alongside the frozen cocktails, all balanced to the same fluffy texture.
